DOES YOUR THERAPY CLINIC MEASURE UP?

METRICS: HOW TO QUANTIFY PT CLINIC SUCCESS

It’s true:  You can’t fix what you don’t measure. That’s why metrics are so critical to any PT clinic that wants to achieve financial success. Here are three questions every owner or manager should ask:

DO WE MEASURE THE RIGHT THINGS?

There are at least two dozen key metrics you should track. A few of those:

  • How many days does it take for your clinic to see a referred patient?

  • How many patient visits does your clinic see from each new patient?

  • How many units do you bill per visit?

If you don’t have benchmarks — and goals — driven by real numbers, you’re ignoring your clinic’s potential.

HOW DO WE MEASURE UP?

If you do have the answers to those and other vital metrics, are you using them properly? You should know how you stack up against national benchmarks — and your own performance from prior years.

ARE WE TAKING ACTION?

Metrics mean nothing if they aren’t used to improve performance. Does your clinic have specific action plans for each metric that doesn’t reach a desired benchmark? And are those plans actually effective?
